Hanshin Tigers
...Tomoaki Kanemoto picked up his 1,320th run scored in last night's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars. He is now in sole possession of 8th place on the All-Time list.
Rakuten Eagles
...It appears as though Rick Short will be making a trip to the US to have surgery on his right shoulder. If Short does decides to go through with the surgery, he'll be out for the rest of the season. And that could spell the end of Short's career with the Eagles.

...Looks like I wasn't the only one impressed by Hanamaki Higashi's scrappy player Ryohei Sato.

"Hanamaki has that tiny player," said Katsuya Nomura. "He keeps fouling them off to stay alive. I should have shown him to Kensuke Uchimura. Even pros can learned a thing or two from high school players."
Seibu Lions
...Hisanobu Watanabe was hit by a foul ball during last night's game and was taken to a hospital after the game. Watanabe was hit in the right forearm by a foul ball off the bat of Takumi Kuriyama in the bottom of the 10th.
Rumor Mill
...Sponichi is reporting that the LG Twins out of the Korean Baseball League is interested in Bobby Valentine's services.

"I haven't received any offers from LG," said Valentine. "But I have received offers from a bunch of other teams."

During one of Hanamaki's games, I remember commenting that Little Dude Satoh made a 172cm first baseman look like a giant. (During senbatsu the team effectively had "Little Satoh" and "Big Satoh", too)

He's only got to grow 8cm to catch up with Uchimura and have a shot at the pros! Maybe he can take an equally crazy path there.
