Mike asked if I could get a list of team totals of the NPB so far. It's not much, and it's only the Central League, but it's a start. I'll be getting things together for the PL shortly (I probably should have started there since the PL season is now over).

UPDATE:
Pacific League Totals are now ready:

I'll try to keep these as up-to-date as possible. That shouldn't be too difficult since there's only one league to worry about.

Wow! Thanks a lot Gen. I can't tell you how cool it is to see the team stats.

It looks like the Swallows did a solid job of getting on base as a team, but their power was lacking. It seems to highlight how much they missed having Ramirez's bat.

Gwynar Says:
Losing Ramirez really hurt. They were actually relying on Aaron Guiel pretty heavily, perhaps too much. The last couple of seasons have been rough on the Swallows in terms of losing key offensive players. First they lose Iwamura after the 2006 season. Then they lose Ramirez after the 2007 season. In just 2 years they basically lost two power bats and couldn't really do much to replace them.

Is there anyone on the farm who could help out? Or do you think think they will have to pursue a new foreign-born player to fill the void?

Gwynar Says:
I'm not sure if there is anyone in the farm system -- at least none that I have heard. And even if they did have someone down there, I'm not sure if he'd be able to become a threat right away. My guess is that they'll need to explore the FA market this offseason.

BTW: added a few more things to the new Japan Baseball section.

Good stuff being added. The homerun dropoff from 2007 for the Swallows was really significant.
